Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 9 (PTI) Senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar on Thursday expressed confidence that the party is set to script history in the Kerala Assembly election.
Javadekar, who is BJP Kerala in-charge, said on 'X' that he was returning to Pune after 50 days of intensive election campaigning in the state.
"It was inspiring to see citizens turn out in record numbers to celebrate the festival of democracy today," he wrote.
He said the tide is turning and that the NDA and BJP are set for a "historic performance" in the Assembly election.
"The message from the booths is loud and clear: Keralam wants Modi-style governance and rapid progress," he said.
The polling for the 140 Assembly seats in Kerala concluded at 6 pm on Thursday.
Updated figures released at 7 pm by the Election Commission show a turnout of 77. 45 per cent, higher than the 74.06 per cent polling seen in the 2021 Assembly elections.
The BJP is expecting to make significant inroads in the state and win seats in the Assembly, where it currently has no MLAs.
The party contested 98 seats in the state, while its allies in the NDA contested the remaining seats.
