Deputy manager dies in accident at JSW Steel plant in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district


Raigarh, Sep 4 (PTI) A deputy manager at JSW Steel Ltd's plant died when he was hit apparently by a reversing heavy vehicle in the unit in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday morning, police said.
The incident took place at the yard of the sinter plant (which processes, agglomerates iron-bearing materials and coproducts) section in the unit at Naharpali village under Bhupdeopur police station limits, said Prabhat Patel, Sub-Division Officer of Police (SDOP), Kharsia town.
The deceased deputy manager was identified by police as Ravindra Dansena (43), a resident of Tarapur in Raigarh district.
"According to preliminary information provided by company officials, Dansena was struck by a reversing heavy vehicle in the yard. The driver reportedly failed to notice him, while the victim, who was on a phone call, did not see the vehicle moving backward. However, what happened exactly will be known only after all relevant details are collected and analysed," Patel said.
After the accident, Dansena was rushed to Jindal Fortis Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, said the police officer, adding the body was later sent to the district hospital for post-mortem.
The area of the plant where the incident took place was sealed for investigation. An accidental death case was registered and further probe was underway, the officer added.
