Rs 76 crore transferred to beneficiaries under 'Dayalu' scheme Haryana CM Saini

Chandigarh, Aug 16 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said a financial assistance of Rs 76 crore has been given to 2,020 families under the state's Deen Dayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana (Dayalu) scheme.
"Today, we have transferred financial assistance of Rs 76 crore into the bank accounts of 2,020 families," Saini said.
He further said ever since the scheme was introduced in April, 2023, the state government has provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1,380 crore to 36,651 families.
The chief minister said that if a member of the family having an annual income of less than Rs 1.80 lakh dies or suffers permanent disability, financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh is given.
Under the Dayalu scheme, the Haryana government provides financial assistance to a family with an annual income of less than Rs 1.80 lakh in case of death (natural and accidental) or permanent disability (caused by an accident) of a member.
It extends coverage to individuals aged between 6 and 60 years, ensuring up to Rs 5 lakh in assistance in the case of death or permanent disability of a family member.
The CM asserted that the initiative's objective is not only to provide monetary relief but also to offer dignity and reassurance to vulnerable families in times of distress.
Saini further said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major highway projects that will accelerate connectivity for Sonipat and Bahadurgarh on August 17.
Saini said Modi will inaugurate six road projects worth about Rs 11,000 crore, two of which are connected to Haryana.
These two projects, costing about Rs 2,000 crore, are part of the Urban Extension Road-2 initiative. He said these will free the NCR from traffic jams and connectivity challenges.
Saini stated that these two projects will serve as vital four-lane link roads connecting the Delhi'“NCR region with Haryana's industrial clusters.
He added that the improved network will not only facilitate smoother transport but also unlock fresh opportunities for trade and employment.
He said in Package-4, a 29.6-km road built at a cost of Rs 1,490 crore will provide direct connectivity to Sonipat and relieve the heavy congestion on NH-44.
This road will also connect the Bawana Industrial Area directly with NH-352A (Jind'“Gohana Road), giving a new push to trade and industry, he said.
In Package-5, a 7.3-km stretch costing Rs 487 crore will link Dichaon Kalan in Delhi directly to Bahadurgarh and the KMP Expressway, ensuring easy access to both, he further said.
Saini said these projects are a testament to "double-engine" government's commitment to building world-class infrastructure in the region.
He also expressed his gratitude to the PM for approving major projects while keeping Haryana's interests in special focus.
Saini also paid tributes to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his seventh death anniversary, and said he changed the meaning of politics.
He said Vajpayee was an epitome of grace and whenever governments strayed from the path of public interest, he always cautioned them with restraint and dignity.
His towering personality was a central pillar of Indian political life, said Saini.
Even being in the opposition for a long time, Vajpayee maintained the decorum of politics, said the BJP leader.
Taking a swipe at the opposition, Saini asked the Congress members to read Vajpayee's biography and learn from him.
He said it was unfortunate that today's opposition lacked the grace and sense of responsibility that Vajpayee embodied.
