Jaipur, Jul 26 (PTI) The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday conducted searches at multiple locations linked to a transport inspector posted in Sirohi district for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets worth over Rs 2.5 crore, officials said.
According to a spokesperson of the ACB, Sujanaram Choudhary is currently posted as a transport inspector at the Sirohi district transport office.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Choudhary's assets exceeded his recognised sources of income by more than 201 per cent.
"Initial investigation indicates that the officer has amassed disproportionate assets estimated at around Rs 2.5 crore since his appointment in government service. This includes several residential and commercial properties in Bhinmal, Mount Abu, Jalore, and Jodhpur," the spokesperson said.
ACB Director General Smita Srivastava said the bureau received a complaint alleging that Chaudhary routinely accepted bribes for issuing vehicle registration licence, conducting vehicle inspections, besides collecting money on the Gujarat border.
"It was alleged that through these corrupt means, he acquired several properties in his and his family's names," she said.
Based on the verification of the complaint and establishment of a prima facie case of disproportionate assets, the bureau secured search warrants from a competent court.
On Saturday, multiple ACB teams carried out simultaneous raids at around seven locations, including Mount Abu, Sirohi, Bhinmal, and Jodhpur.
Initial findings revealed that the accused possessed at least 14 residential and commercial immovable properties, including a sprawling 8,000 sq ft bungalow equipped with 21 air-conditioners and other luxury amenities, the spokesperson said.
"Evidence of additional investments by Chaudhary and his family members in various other properties has been found. The total value of assets is estimated to run into several crores," he said.
