New Delhi, Jul 20 (PTI) An ongoing exhibition draws viewers into a serene world of abstraction, where elements like thread, light, and memory intertwine to create immersive and contemplative encounters.
"The Wondering and Wandering Mind", currently underway at Gallery Pristine Contemporary, is Omani artist Haneen Almoosawi's debut solo exhibition in India. Featuring works produced in her Muscat studio, the compositions seamlessly merge "material exploration with introspection".
Working primarily with thread stitched into linen, resin, and translucent panels, Almoosawi's process mirrors the rhythm of thought. Her stitched gestures, for instance, unfold across the surface like internal monologues, with "line and light tracing the contours of emotion, memory, and embodied experience".
"Haneen’s practice brings together minimalism and emotion in a way that is both disarming and deeply resonant. In ‘The Wondering and Wandering Mind', she offers an antidote to overstimulation, a space of quiet that is increasingly rare, and deeply needed," Arjun Sawhney and Arjun Butani, co-founders of Gallery Pristine Contemporary, said in a statement.
Rendered in a palette of soft neutrals with touches of luminous translucence, the works on display, as described by the organisers, evoke atmospheres rather than objects -- "spaces that hold a quiet presence instead of seeking attention".
Thread, used both as material and metaphor, resonates like an emotional frequency.
"It maps invisible terrain, offering quiet reminders of connection, fracture, and the long arc of self-understanding," they explained.
Thus, grounded in a creative lineage and an art and design background, Almoosawi creates a minimalist visual language that bridges architecture, textiles, and personal narrative.
"The result is a visual language rooted in precision and surrender, stillness and movement," the organisers noted.
The exhibition will come to a close on August 27.
