Rains lash parts of Mumbai some areas report waterlogging

Mumbai, Jul 15 (PTI) Heavy rains lashed several parts of Mumbai on Tuesday, causing waterlogging in some areas.
The suburbs received more rainfall compared to the island city, civic officials said.
While the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Colaba weather station in south Mumbai recorded 4.4 mm of rainfall, Santacruz in western suburbs recorded 54.2 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
The island city, eastern suburbs, and western suburbs recorded average rainfall of 7.01 mm, 42.74 mm and 31.45 mm, respectively, between 8 am and 6 pm.
The automatic rain gauges in civic schools in Ghatkopar's Ramabai Nagar and Mankhurd's Maharashtra Nagar in the eastern suburbs recorded the highest rainfall of 83 mm each, followed by 82 mm rainfall in Powai and Bhandup areas.

The intensity of rain decreased in the afternoon.
There were reports of waterlogging in Ghatkopar's Pant Nagar and R-City Mall Road, Andheri Subway and some other places in the first half of the day.
The coastal Konkan belt and mountainous Ghat areas of western Maharashtra too reported heavy rains. A few rivers in the Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts have swollen and are flowing above the danger or warning levels, officials said.
