Lucknow, Jul 14 (PT) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting here on Monday to review preparedness to ensure uninterrupted fertiliser supply to farmers during the upcoming kharif season.
He directed officials to prevent any shortage of supply and warned that strict action will be taken against black marketing or hoarding.
Maintaining that timely and affordable availability of fertilisers is crucial for strengthening the state's agricultural economy, the chief minister directed that fertiliser distribution must be regularly reviewed at district level and closely monitored by district magistrates.
If any shortages are reported, alternative supply arrangements must be made immediately to avoid disruption, he instructed.
Reiterating his government's zero-tolerance policy against black marketing, hoarding or smuggling of fertilisers, especially to neighbouring countries, Adityanath said that any individual or organisation attempting these would face stern action.
He instructed officials to inspect the stocks of both wholesale and retail sellers regularly, and strict take action ranging from licence cancellation to filing FIRs in case of discrepancies.
The chief minister also stressed the importance of robust communication and outreach to ensure that farmers are fully informed about the availability and pricing of fertilisers. He directed that digital platforms, the agriculture department's website, and local media should be effectively utilised to share real-time information about fertiliser stock and pricing.
"Farmers are our top priority," the chief minister said and added that the availability, quality and pricing of fertilisers will be strictly monitored to ensure that farmers face no inconvenience during the agricultural season.
