Mumbai, Jul 14 (PTI) A ticket collector (TC) was booked for allegedly sexually harassing a 7-year-old girl on a suburban train between Kalyan and Kasara on the Central Railway network last month, a police official said on Monday.
The incident took place on June 12 when the girl was travelling with her mother to Kasara to take another train to Nashik, the official added.
"The 57-year-old TC, while checking tickets, pulled the girl towards himself in a manner the woman claimed was bad touch. After the journey, she sent a complaint to the deputy chief minister's office, which passed it on to Kalyan railway police station," he said.
After her statement was recorded, a case was registered against the TC for sexual assault and sexual harassment under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as well as Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 74 (assault or criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), he said.
In another case, a Mumbai police constable was arrested for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old girl at Saat Rasta locality on Sunday.
The Agripada police station official said the 45-year-old accused is attached to the Armed Police Force in Tardeo.
"The incident took place on Saturday and was captured on CCTV. The victim had stepped out of her building to collect prasad when the accused, who was present in the vicinity, began following her. When the girl attempted to enter the elevator, the constable allegedly stopped her and forcibly held her hand. He then dragged her up the staircase to the first floor of the building," the official said.
The girl later informed her mother about the incident, following which a case was registered under sections 74 and 78 of BNS and section 12of POCSO Act, he added.
