Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras installed on NH-48 Dwarka Expressway in Gurgaon

Gurugram, Jul 8 (PTI) The Gurugram Traffic Police has installed Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at six locations on National Highway-48 and at nine locations on Dwarka Expressway to curb over-speeding, said an official.
     DCP Traffic Rajesh Mohan said 14 types of incidents will be detected through these cameras installed on National Highway-48 and Dwarka Expressway.
     According to an official statement, a meeting was held at the office of DCP traffic Rajesh Mohan along with the officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Tuesday regarding the cameras.
     It was discussed in the meeting that to check over-speeding drivers, these cameras have been installed through Global Shutter Technology at a total of 15 locations on National Highway-48 and Dwarka Expressway, they added.
     With these cameras, 14 types of incidents will be detected. The NHAI has determined three types of categories for the help, safety and convenience of passengers on National Highway-48 and Dwarka Expressway. Video Incident Detection and Enforcement System (VIDES), Traffic Monitoring Camera System (TMCS) and Variable Message Sign Boards (VMS) will be used under this initiative, said police.
     "From July 10, challans will be started with these cameras on the highway and the expressway for over-speeding, without seat belt, without helmet, triple riding, wrong-side driving and lane change, while separate challans will also be started for banned vehicles like two-wheelers, e-rickshaws and tractors on Dwarka Expressway. Through these cameras, information about the accident will be received without any delay.
     "If any vehicle breaks down on the road or a traffic jam occurs anywhere, the information will be received immediately with the help of these cameras and the problem will be resolved to operate traffic smoothly," said DCP Mohan.
