Jaipur, Jul 8 (PTI) Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's father Daulal Vaishnaw passed away at AIIMS Jodhpur on Tuesday, hospital authorities said.
Daulal Vaishnaw, 82, had been critically ill for the past few days and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
"It is with profound sorrow that we inform you of the demise of Hon'ble Railway Minister's father, Shri Daulal Vaishnaw, today on 08 July 2025 at 11:52 am at AIIMS Jodhpur," the hospital said in an official statement.
Dau Lal Vaishnaw is survived by two sons and two daughters.
The last rites were performed at the Kaga cremation ground near Nagauri gate here. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and his brother Anand lit the pyre.
A senior advocate by profession, Dau Lal Vaishnaw hailed from Jeevant Kala village in Rajasthan's Pali district.
Known for his simplicity, integrity, and social commitment, he was a respected figure in the legal and social circles of the region.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Member of Parliament P.P. Chaudhary, senior BJP leader Rajendra Gehlot, former minister Lumba Ram, and Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Kunwar Brajesh Singh, were among those who were present during the last rites.
Before the last rites, Daulal Vaishnaw's mortal remains were kept at his residence in Mahaveer Nagar, Ratanada, for people to pay their last respects.
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani and other leaders extended their condolences on the demise of the minister's father.
Union minister Jitendra Singh said he was deeply saddened by his death. "My heartfelt condolences to Ashwini ji and the bereaved family," he said in a post on X.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also extended condolence on X, saying he was deeply anguished by the passing away of Daulal Vaishnaw.
Former Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik said, "Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Daulal Vaishnaw, father of Hon'ble Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw ji."
"My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family members and friends during this hour of grief," he said on X.
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi also expressed sadness over the senior advocate's death.
