MP Farmer beaten to death for trivial reason six arrested

Chhatarpur, Jul 2 (PTI) A farmer was allegedly beaten to death over a petty dispute in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.
Six persons including three women were arrested and search was on for three others following the incident that took place at Khairi village, 35 km from here, on Tuesday evening, said an official.
The quarrel started over cattle entering another person's fields and led to the murder of Shankar Patel (44), police said.
Patel's naked body was found near a tree, said Bamitha police station in-charge Amit Shroti.
"It seems he was beaten with sticks. There were serious injury marks on his head, hands and the feet," said the official.
As per the preliminary probe, nine persons were involved in the assault, and a case of murder was registered against them under section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
"Six people, including three women, have been arrested. Probe is on," said Shroti.
Patel's father too had been murdered in 2003 over a land dispute, he said.
