Bhopal, Jun 30 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to get a new president on July 2.
A statement by the party on Monday said the notification for the state organisational polls has been issued, under which nominations will be filled on July 1 and results will be declared on July 2.
The new president will replace Vishnu Dutt Sharma, who has been heading the state unit since 2020.
Senior leader Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar, who has been appointed as election officer by the party, said nomination papers for the post of BJP state president can submitted on July 1 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
"Nomination papers will be scrutinized from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Thereafter the nomination papers can be withdrawn from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The final list of nomination papers will be announced on July 1 at 8:30 pm. If necessary, voting for the post of state president will be held on July 2 from 11 am to 2 pm," he said.
The election result will be announced at 2 pm that day, he said.
With this the election process of 44 members of the National Council will also be completed, Shejwalkar informed.
