Bhopal, Jun 30 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari on Monday said he would resign from his post if Chief Minister Mohan Yadav managed to prove the charges mentioned in an FIR against the former.
Patwari was booked on Saturday by Mungaoli police in Ashoknagar district in connection with news of a youth from the Lodhi community from Moodra Barwah village being fed faeces. The complaint was filed by the youth himself.
He had met Patwari a few days ago and had sought help in the faeces-feeding incident.
The police had claimed the faeces-feeding allegation was wrong and had booked Patwari for trying to spread animosity in society, instigating fights between castes and disrupting peace by sharing a video related to the youth on social media.
"The youth was there for as long as I talked to him. Everything is in public. If there is even a shred of truth in the allegations against me, then CM Mohan Yadav should make it public. If there is any proof, I will resign from my post," Patwari asserted.
"The youth had come to me with a complaint and it was my duty to bring to the notice of the authorities. We were helping the government but it has registered a case against me. Whenever an FIR is lodged against me, I consider it as a medal," he added.
He also accused the local collector and superintendent of police of working for the BJP, adding "they will be taught a lesson".
