Una (HP), June 28 (PTI) Expressing solidarity with the suspended pradhan of Chatara gram panchayat in Himachal Pradesh's Una district, the up (deputy) pradhan and other ward panches submitted resigned on Saturday.
Pradhan Neelam Kumari was suspended for alleged irregularities in the panchayat's tender by Deputy Commissioner, Una after which there has been a stir in local politics.
Accusing the administration of adopting politically motivated decisions, the up pradhan and panchayat members resigned collectively.
Taking the suspended pradhan along with them, all the members of the panchayat along with a delegation of villagers reached the mini secretariat and submitted their collective resignation to Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar.
Meanwhile, the agitated panchayat functionaries have said that if the suspension is not revoked, they will intensify their agitation.
They told the ADC that Neelam Kumari has been an honest and active and pradhan, who implemented many schemes for the development of the village during her tenure and the administration suspended her allegedly without a fair investigation.
