Lucknow, Jun 26 (PTI) A YouTube channel 'UP Ki Baat' has taken down its video in which it had made some allegations against Uttar Pradesh minister Nand Gopal Gupta, over which he had served a legal notice to the channel and its reporter, calling its contents "defamatory".
In its legal notice to the channel sent on June 20, Gupta, who is the minister for Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI Affairs and Investment Promotion, had said that the contents of the video were "wholly false, baseless, and defamatory".
"No official source, ministerial record, or government authority had either made or confirmed such accusations," the minister said in the notice.
The allegations which the channel had circulated were not only patently false and unfounded but also appeared to be motivated by malice or reckless disregard for the truth, he said.
The channel, in its reply through its lawyer, claimed that it has merely discharged its duty of bringing news in the public domain, of which the public at large has a right to information.
In the reply dated June 24, the channel said the video has already been taken down.
