Palghar, Jun 21 (PTI) A Rs 200 crore proposal to tackle flooding during monsoons and water scarcity at other times of the year in Vasai in Palghar district is pending approval from the Maharashtra government, local MLA Sneha Pandit-Dubey said on Saturday.
The Vasai MLA said she would take all efforts to ensure the approval for this plan is expedited so that the region, which is witnessing rapid urbanisation, can be free of monsoon woes and water scarcity.
She also said a NEERI survey carried out earlier on these issues was good, but added that a more comprehensive study by one of the Indian Institutes of Technology is required.
"The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation has submitted a proposal of Rs 200 crore for these works. It is pending at the state government level. I will ensure the approval is given as quickly as possible. The aim is to complete all these works in the next two years," the MLA said.
