Jabalpur, Jun 21 (PTI) A fake Indian currency note making unit was busted in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, leading to the arrest of seven persons, a police official said.
FICN with face value of Rs 18 lakh was recovered following a raid at a house in Adhartal area, City Superintendent of Police (Gohalpur) Sunil Nema told reporters.
"The gang was exchanging fake notes of Rs 500 denomination for profits across the state. Mastermind Rituraj Vishwakarma of Narsinghpur district has confessed to printing fake notes from the house he had rented in Adhartal for the last one month," he said.
"Vishwakarma used to give these notes to the other accused who would fan out across the state and exchange four such pieces for one genuine note. The racket was busted after one Ravi Dahiya was held on a tip off with Rs 500 denomination fake notes with face value of Rs 2.94 lakh," he added.
Vishwakarma had given FICN with face value of Rs 12 lakh to the other accused, who paid him Rs 3 lakh, the CSP informed.
"We have recovered FICN with face value of Rs 18 lakh from the accused. We have also seized Rs 1.94 lakh cash, a laptop, colour printer, cutter, A4 size paper rolls," the official said.
Apart from Vishwakarma and Dahiya, the others held are Dheeraj Banwani, Gaurav Tiwari, Jamna Prasad, all from Jabalpur, and Mandla residents Santosh Shrivastav and Ajay Kumar Naveriya, he said, adding one person is on the run.
