New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) Former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair met Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta here on Thursday and had discussions on innovation in governance and education reforms.
Gupta briefed Blair on the capital's comprehensive development initiatives and the vision of 'Viksit Dilli' when they met at the Delhi Secretariat.
She elaborated on the Delhi government's citizen-centric approach in modernising public services, enhancing digital governance, improving education and healthcare systems, empowering women, and advancing environmental sustainability, an official statement said.
The courtesy meeting was marked by a wide-ranging and meaningful discussion on strengthening democratic institutions, innovation in governance, urban transformation and education reforms, it added.
Gupta said the Delhi Government and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change would explore avenues of collaboration to strengthen governance models and build a future-ready and citizen-first capital city.
Blair commended the progressive strides being made in Delhi and expressed keen interest in the capital's reforms in school education, green policy innovations, and the use of digital platforms for public service delivery, the statement said.
He also lauded the Delhi government's focus on inclusive and technology-driven development, it added.
The Delhi CM described the interaction as an enriching exchange of ideas and best practices. She highlighted the importance of learning from global experiences and acknowledged the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change's role in supporting democratic governance worldwide.
