Air India plane crash Union minister Paatil urges BJP workers to join relief efforts


    New Delhi, Jun 12 (PTI) Gujarat BJP president and Union minister C R Paatil on Thursday urged all party workers to participate in the ongoing relief efforts and extend every possible help to the families affected by the Air India plane crash.
    Flight AI 171, which was en route from Ahmedabad to London (Gatwick), crashed shortly after takeoff near the Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday.
    "I am deeply saddened by this tragedy. I appeal to all the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party to join the relief work and provide all possible assistance to the affected families. I pray that God gives all the bereaved families the strength to bear this difficult situation and that the injured recover very quickly," Paatil said in a post.
    Union Health Minister J P Nadda also mentioned that he spoke with Paatil and state Health Minister Rushikesh Patel to get updates on healthcare arrangements and ongoing relief operations.
    "The news of many people being killed in the plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat is extremely sad. Regarding this tragic incident, I spoke to Gujarat BJP State President and Union Minister Shri @CRPaatil ji and the State Health Minister Shri @irushikeshpatel and took information about health facilities and relief work. I appeal to all BJP workers to engage in relief and rescue operations and provide all possible help to the affected families. I pray to God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear the unbearable pain and to provide speedy recovery to the injured," he said in a post on X.
    According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), there were 232 passengers and 10 crew members on board the Air India plane that crashed into the residential quarters of the doctors of BJ Medical College near the Ahmedabad airport.
