Important cases heard by the Supreme Court on Tuesday:
* Underscoring the "presumption of constitutionality in favour of law", SC said petitioners challenging the waqf law needed a "strong and glaring" case for interim relief.
* SC held that fresh law graduates cannot appear in judicial services examination, mandating minimum three years of legal practice for candidates applying to entry-level posts.
* Chief Justice of India B R Gavai has said the "trivial issue" of the protocol lapse during his visit to Mumbai on May 18 should not be blown out of proportion and the matter should be given "quietus".
* "Enough is enough", SC said as it pulled up the Navy for not granting permanent commission to a Short Service Commission officer of 2007 batch despite express direction of the court and asked the authority concerned to "shed its egos"
* SC directed all the states and union territories to identify officers in the Department of Women and Child Development at the district and taluka levels and designate them as protection officers.
* Tamil Nadu government moved the Supreme Court against the raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate at the premises of its state-run liquor retailer TASMAC.
