CBI arrests inspector SI posted at Delhi's Burari police station for 'taking Rs 10-lakh bribe'


    New Delhi, Oct 15 (PTI) The CBI on Tuesday arrested two Delhi Police officers, an inspector and a sub-inspector posted in Burari, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to not implicate the complainant in a case, officials said.
    It is alleged that Inspector Sandeep Ahlawat and Sub-Inspector Bhupesh Kumar demanded Rs 1.5 crore from the complainant for "not implicating him in a fake case", the officials said.
    The complainant told the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that Ahlawat allegedly agreed to accept Rs 1 crore through the accused sub-inspector, they added.
    The duo allegedly decided to accept a part payment of Rs 10 lakh from the complainant, a CBI spokesperson said.
    "The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused SI red-handed while accepting a part bribe amount of Rs 10 lakh from the complainant on behalf of the inspector," the spokesperson said, adding that subsequently, Ahlawat, who was posted at the Burari police station, was also apprehended.
