UNDERSCORING ITS decades-long commitment to defence journalism, THE WEEK launched a dedicated microsite on defence and strategic affairs―Fortress India―on April 17, during the THE WEEK Defence Conclave 2025 in New Delhi. The platform was formally unveiled by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who also inaugurated the conclave.
Riyad Mathew, Chief Associate Editor and Director of THE WEEK, said the microsite will serve as a “dedicated section in THE WEEK for all matters related to security and defence in the country”.
Extending his best wishes to the microsite and the magazine, the defence minister said, “THE WEEK is one of those magazines in India with a loyal readership base, and it is now taking steps forward in the digital world as well. I inaugurated THE WEEK microsite today. I hope THE WEEK will be successful in leaving its footprints in both the print and digital media.”
For the past 43 years, THE WEEK has been at the forefront of defence reporting, bringing news from the world’s most volatile frontlines―from the icy heights of Siachen and the Line of Control to the war-ravaged terrains of Kargil, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Syria and Libya. Its brave journalists and photographers reported firsthand from insurgent camps in the northeast, the Hamas-Israel conflict zones, and the shifting battle lines of the Russia-Ukraine war. In continuation of this journalistic mission, the microsite seeks to chronicle India’s evolving security narrative.
