Klette is charged with armed robbery and attempted murder

After decades of run, Daniela Klette, a member of Germany's militant group Red Army Faction (RAF) has been arrested in Berlin on Tuesday. She was charged with armed robbery and attempted murder.

The arrest comes after a police broadcast two weeks ago seeking information about three members of the group. The broadcast on the cold case show Aktenzeichen XY yielded 250 tips.

Along with her, two other fugitives, Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub were on the run.

RAF, a far-left group, founded by Andreas Baader and Ulrike Meinhof killed at least 33 people including public officials, police, business leaders and US soldiers during the 1970s. However, reportedly, the group wound itself up in 1998.

The charges facing Klette, along with Garweg and Staub, relate to millions of euros’ worth of armed robberies and at least one attempted murder committed between 1999 and 2016.
