US President Donald Trump said that the coronavirus will go away without a vaccine, even as his Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary tested positive for the virus on Friday. On Thursday, one of Trump’s personal valets tested positive for coronavirus too.

Trump said the country is going to 'transition to greatness and we're starting right now'.

“This is going to go away without a vaccine. It's going to go away and we're not going to see it again,' Trump said. He also said, “You may have some flare ups.”

Trump also said, “There are some viruses and flus that came, when they went for a vaccine, they never found the vaccine and (the viruses) disappeared. It never showed up again. They die too like everything else. They die too.”

The president also added that he expected 95,000 or more to die due to the virus.

In what has been a challenging week for the US, unemployment had risen to 14.7 per cent, up from 3.5 per cent in February. As of in April, around 20 million people have lost their jobs.

Currently, 77,000 have lost their lives due to the virus and 1.3 million have been infected.

China and Russia have been accused by the US state department of stepping up cooperation to spread false narratives over the coronavirus pandemic. It added that Beijing was increasingly adopting techniques honed by Moscow.

“Even before the COVID-19 crisis, we assessed a certain level of coordination between Russia and the PRC in the realm of propaganda,” Lea Gabrielle, coordinator of the state department’s global engagement centre which tracks foreign propaganda was quoted as saying in a Guardian report.
