A blockbuster swap deal involving Real Madrid and Liverpool is on the cards, a new report says. Eduardo Camavinga and Alexis Mac Allister are the two players who could "exchange" their respective base camps once the summer transfer window opens, as per the report.

The Frenchman, Camavinga, is no longer an "untouchable" player at Real Madrid, while the Spanish giants' interest in the English club's Argentine World Cup winner is no secret. Liverpool are interested in Camavinga, who has also played as a left-back for Los Blancos on several occasions. Intermediaries are reportedly in the process of exploring what could be done to make the player exchange possible.

It may not essentially be a textbook swap deal, as that would be complicated due to Financial Fair Play regulations. However, they can still work out a plan to ensure the two players change camps; sources suggest the situation could still evolve into both players moving in opposite directions.

The Reds want to strengthen their defensive midfield capabilities and hope to link up Camavinga with Ryan Gravenberch. Mac Allister often plays as a deep midfielder with the ability to maintain possession efficiently and find space. With Real targeting Rodri, Mac Allister would not be tasked with conventional CDM roles, which have not yielded the expected dividends in the ongoing campaign.

"We understand that Madrid have done significant background work on Mac Allister and believe he could bring qualities reminiscent of Luka Modrić – not just in playing style, but also in leadership and personality. The club’s hierarchy feel those traits have been missing both on and off the pitch and see Mac Allister as an ideal cultural fit, similar to Rodri," TEAMtalk said in a report.

The 23-year-old Camavinga has three years left on his current deal, while Mac Allister, 27, has a couple of years remaining on his contract.
