Royal Challengers Bengaluru managed to post 169/8 against the Gujarat Titans after an early collapse on Wednesday thanks to Liam Livingstone and Tim David. While Livingstone's 40-ball 54 formed the backbone of the RCB innings, David offered a late flourish to ensure the home side had a respectable total on the board.
The big Aussie managed 16 runs in the final over by Prasidh Krishna before falling on the last ball. He had made 32 from 18 balls before losing his off stump to a yorker from the seamer.
Tim David frustrated an otherwise impressive Krishna that the India international made a bye-bye gesture after uprooting his stump. Such was Prasidh Krishna's form that his economy rate remained at 6.50 despite an expensive final over. He yielded just one run in the eight over to the horror of the RCB batters.
RCB vs Gujarat Titans: First innings
Former RCB spearhead Mohammed Siraj was the most successful GT bowler as he dismissed the dangerous Phil Salt (14 off 13), Devdutt Padikkal (4 off 3) and captain Rajat Patidar (12 off 12).
Royal Challengers found some stability through Jitesh Sharma (33, 21b) and Livingstone's half-century (1x4, 5x6) as they added 52 runs off 38 balls for the fifth wicket. The impressive left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore (2/22), who varied his line and pace exemplarily, broke the alliance, dismissing Jitesh, who skied him to Rahul Tewatia.
