Much to the surprise of the BCCI's followers on the X platform, the cricket governing body's account lost its blue tick verification on Sunday.
Later, it was revealed that the BCCI lost the verification because it changed its profile picture. As per the new X guidelines, whenever a user changes their profile picture, they would lose the blue tick. However, it will be restored in three to four days.
The Indian cricket governing body changed its profile to the Indian tricolour to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. Launched to mark the country's 77th Independence Day, the campaign urges Indians to display the tricolour on social media.
"In the spirit of the #HarGharTiranga movement, let us change the DP of our social media accounts and extend support to this unique effort which will deepen the bond between our beloved country and us," PM Modi posted on X.
However, many started wondering why PM Modi did not lose grey tick despite changing his profile picture to Indian flag on Sunday. This was because the grey tick is given to those representing a government or multilateral organisation.
BCCI might get the blue tick back before the Indian team's three-match T20 series against Ireland that starts on August 18.
