For the unversed, in the UAE, petrol is sold in three main grades — E-Plus 91, Special 95, and Super 98 — which differ mainly in octane rating. The Super 98 is the highest-grade petrol available in the country while the mid-grade Special 95 is the most commonly used fuel for regular cars and SUVs. Older or smaller-engine vehicles that don’t need higher-octane fuel use the E-Plus 91 variant which is also the most economical option of them all.
