Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the ruling BJP, accusing it of capturing the country's institutional framework to build political power.
Speaking at the Hertie School in Berlin, he also alleged that the BJP was proposing the "elimination of the Constitution," which grants equal rights to all.
"What the BJP is proposing, essentially, is the elimination of the Constitution. The elimination of the idea of equality between states, the elimination of the idea of equality between languages and religions, and the elimination of the central core of the Constitution, which is that every individual has the same value," the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said.

Alleging that the Centre had "weaponized" the investigating agencies, the Congress leader claimed a quid pro quo, in which businessmen in India financially support the BJP rather than opposition parties.
"There is a wholesale capture of our institutional framework. Our intelligence agencies, the ED, and the CBI have been weaponized. The ED and CBI have zero cases against the BJP, and most of the political cases are against people who oppose them," the MP said.
"If you are a businessman and try to support the Congress, you are threatened. The BJP uses the institutional framework of India as a tool to build political power. Look at the money the BJP has and the Opposition has," he added.
Gandhi, however, vowed to create a system of opposition resistance that would succeed in removing the BJP from power.
"We will deal with it, and we will create a method—a system of opposition resistance that will succeed. But we are not fighting the BJP. You have to understand that we are fighting their capture of the Indian institutional structure," he said.
