In his first public address following the tragic stampede in Karur, actor-politician Vijay launched a pointed attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), accusing the party of focusing solely on targeting him and creating hurdles for his party.
Addressing a massive rally at Erode's Moongilpalayam Meeting Ground on Thursday, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief set the tone of his party's campaign in the upcoming assembly elections.
Vijay criticized the DMK as an “evil force” and positioned his TVK as a “pure force,” asserting that the political contest in Tamil Nadu is now a direct battle between these two factions.
"The contest is now between the thooya sakthi TVK and theeya sakthi DMK," Vijay stated, as he slammed the ruling dispensation over a range of issues, including the law and order situation, agriculture and the NEET row.
"DMK and problems are stuck together like Fevicol and cannot be separated," he said.

The rally, which comes nearly three months after the stampede, also assumes significance due to the recent induction of former AIADMK leader K.A. Sengottaiyan into the TVK.
Sengottaiyan has been appointed chief coordinator of TVK's high-level executive committee, a key organisational role tasked with shaping the party's political strategy, as well as the organising secretary for the western districts of Erode, Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Nilgiris—regions where he has strong grassroots influence.
In his address, Vijay claimed that more leaders would come to the party fold and that they would be given their due recognition.
Vijay and the TVK have been under intense scrutiny following a stampede at his rally in Karur on September 27, which claimed 41 lives and left over 100 others injured.
