Passengers continued to have a harrowing time as IndiGo cancelled more flights on Thursday at various airports across the country following major operational disruptions, mainly due to crew shortage and announced calibrated schedule adjustments.

Over 30 flights that were scheduled to depart from Delhi on Thursday have been cancelled. According to reports, more than 170 IndiGo flights are likely to be cancelled today across various airports.

Thousands of flyers have been stranded at various airports as at least 200 flights of India’s largest airline were cancelled or delayed over the past three days. The airline cancelled 42 flights to and from the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, while 19 flights were cancelled to various destinations from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. At least 10 flights to and from Kolkata have also been cancelled.

According to reports, arrivals from Visakhapatnam, Goa, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Madurai, Hubbali, Bhopal, and Bhubaneswar were also cancelled on Wednesday.

The airline, which operates around 2,300 domestic and international flights daily, on Wednesday said a "multitude of unforeseen operational challenges" have significantly disrupted its operations across the network.

“A multitude of unforeseen operational challenges, including minor technology glitches, schedule changes linked to the winter season, adverse weather conditions, increased congestion in the aviation system, and the implementation of updated crew rostering rules (FDTL) had a negative compounding impact on our operations in a way that was not feasible to be anticipated," it said.

Though the airline said that the affected customers were being offered alternative travel arrangements to reach their destinations, the incident has triggered chaotic scenes at major airports.

According to a PTI report, the scene at the airport was no different from a Railway platform, with people sitting wherever they found a place as they were clueless about the flight disruptions.
