The winter session of parliament will begin on Monday with the Opposition all set to corner the Narendra Modi government over a range of issues, including Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Delhi car blast and worsening air pollution in the national capital.

Congress, the principal opposition party, is also likely to raise the issue of the Delhi Police’s fresh FIR against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, as well as US President Donald Trump’s repeated claim of brokering a truce between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.

On Sunday, senior Congress leaders met at the residence of Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and held discussions on the party's strategy for the session.

Congress deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Pramod Tiwari said opposition leaders would meet at the office of Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, at 10 am on Monday to chalk out their joint strategy in Parliament.

“The SIR was conducted across the entire state in a very short span of time, which is impossible. Blasts have occurred in the capital. Prime Minister Modi's foreign policies are completely lost. In addition, air pollution in Delhi and other states must be discussed in detail,” Tiwari told ANI news agency.

Meanwhile, Congress MPs Manickam Tagore and Vijay Kumar Vasanth on Monday moved an adjournment motion, seeking an urgent debate on the ongoing SIR in the country.

The 6th Session of the 18th Lok Sabha and the 269th Session of the Rajya Sabha will commence at 11 am on Monday, marking the beginning of the winter session.

The government has listed a total of 13 Bills for consideration during the session, many of which have not been examined by a Standing Committee.
