As Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP], led by Chirag Paswan registered an impressive performance in Bihar Assembly polls which saw a landslide victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance over the Mahagathbandhan, the LJP leader was asked about his chief ministerial ambitions.

While Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] supremo Nitish Kumar is set to return as the chief minister for a tenth time, reporters asked Chirag about the possibility of the LJP leader becoming the CM after the 2030 Bihar elections.

He, however, sidestepped the question saying there is much to before 2030 assembly elections.

"Before that, we have to make my Prime Minister Narendra Modi the prime minister again for the fourth time in 2029. That is a big milestone we have to cross first before getting back on ground in 2030," Chirag said.

Paswan attributed the "arrogance" of the Tejaswai Yadav-Rahul Gandhi-led opposition alliance for its thumping defeat and stated that the people's "faith in the unity of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners" was the reason behind their convincing win.

"I firmly believe that Nitish Kumar will remain the Bihar chief minister. Arrogance is the cause for the opposition's humiliating loss and it is the sole factor that led to its downfall," Paswan told reporters.

"Our overwhelming victory is on account of the strength of the double-engine government which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and our chief minister Nitish Kumar in the state," he said.

He also said that his father would be extremely happy wherever he is, and that he "would be blessing the party workers, and impressed with all our hard work."
