Days after the deadly bomb blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, a loud, blast-like sound in Mahipalpur caused panic among residents on Thursday morning.

The Delhi Fire Services got a call at 9:19am, reporting a loud, explosion-like sound near the Radisson Hotel in Mahipalpur. Three fire tenders were promptly discharged to the location to investigate.

Teams of Delhi Police cordoned off the area, and bomb disposal personnel were also rushed to the spot as a precautionary measure. Upon investigation, the officers found no evidence of an explosion or any suspicious activity at the site.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Amit Goel, said that the team contacted the person who made the call, who explained that he heard a loud noise while travelling towards Gurugram. "We checked everything, and nothing was found," Goel confirmed.

Delhi Police later confirmed that, upon inquiry, a security guard informed authorities that the sound came from the rear tyre of a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus, which burst as it travelled towards Dhaula Kuan. Police confirmed that the situation is now normal, and there is no cause for concern.

On November 10, a high-intensity explosion in a white Hyundai i20 reportedly driven by suicide bomber Dr Umar un Nabi, in the heavily crowded Red Fort area on Monday killed 13 people and injured several others.

The Union government, terming the Red Fort incident a "terrorist incident", has tasked the National Investigation Agency to probe the use of explosives and the terror module involved.
