Two candidates of Janshakti Janata Dal, a party founded by former RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, grabbed eyeballs for the unique way in which they arrived to file nomination papers on Friday. Tej Pratap Yadav, son of former chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, was kicked out of RJD recently, after which he formed his political party.
Dharmendra Kumar Krantikari, Janshakti Janata Dal’s candidate for Barauli Assembly constituency, arrived to file papers wearing a handcuff. Krantikari, currently lodged in prison over land fraud, is a resident of Madhopur village in Barauli. The court had granted permission for him to file the papers under police protection, which explained the handcuffs.
After leaving jail under police protection, Krantikari reached the Collectorate to a waiting line of photographers and supporters. He then broke into tears, alleging conspiracy. "All the allegations against me are false. I have been framed as part of a conspiracy, which is why I am in jail. I have been sent to jail by the local MLA of Barauli and his son, implicating me in a false case," Krantikari told media persons, adding that he is sure of getting justice from the public.

Not just Krantikari, another candidate who put up a show before filing his papers was Arun Yadav, the Janshakti Janata Dal’s candidate from Arwal Assembly constituency. Yadav arrived at the district headquarters riding a buffalo, drawing in a huge crowd. He also held a picture of RJD leader and former chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. "My only role model in politics is Lalu Prasad Yadav, so I have come to file my nomination with his blessings,” he told the crowd.
The video of the spectacle caught the attention of Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who sarcastically remarked, "What have Tejashwi and Lalu given to Bihar? Now candidates are filing their nominations on buffaloes."
