Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alert for four districts on October 19 with 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm rain expected in the next 24 hours.
Very heavy rainfall is expected to continues in the state for the next five days. There will be rain accompanied with thunderstorms till October 22. Eleven districts have been issued yellow alert.

Orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Malappuram on October 18 while Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod are under orange alert on October 19.
On Saturday, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod were on yellow alert. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Wayanad are on yellow alert on Sunday.
On October 20, 11 districts are under yellow alert, including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Five districts, including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur, are under yellow alert on October 21. On October 22, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad are under yellow alert.
IMD warned that gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are expected till October 22. Fisherfolk have been warned against venturing into the open sea till Wednesday.
On Saturday, heavy damage was reported in hilly regions with house and shops flooded and vehicles washed away in Idukki. All 13 shutters of the Mullaperiyar dam spillway were opened after water level rose.
