Union Home Minister Amit Shah came down heavily on Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday and charged Congress's Vote Adhikar Yatra was aimed at protecting infiltrators in electoral rolls.
Addressing an event organised by the Delhi government to celebrate 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah said, "Rahul Baba has just started his 'Ghuspatiya Bachao Yatra' (Save infiltrators yatra). Today, I have come to this platform to tell the people of the country to recognise these people. They want infiltrators to remain on our voter lists because they do not trust the people of India," Shah charged.
The Union minister alleged Congress-led Opposition wants to win elections with votes of infiltrators, hence they are opposing special intensive revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral rolls. "They want to win elections on the basis of infiltrators. The BJP supports the SIR and the campaign to clear the voter lists," ANI reported, quoting the Union minister.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led a 14-day 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar to highlight discrepancies in the electoral roll. He alleged the Bihar SIR is actually aimed at disenfranchising over 65 lakh voters from the electoral roll in the poll-bound state. Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav also joined Gandhi during the yatra. During the yatra, Gandhi covered 1,300km across over 25 districts.
The Congress has ramped up the campaign against the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Election Commission. The key Opposition party has alleged the poll body was working in favour of the ruling BJP in the elections.
