As the youth-led protests rage in Nepal over alleged corruption and a ban on social media platforms, India on Tuesday issued an advisory to its citizens in the Himalayan nation, urging them to exercise caution and adhere to the guidelines of the authorities.
"We are closely monitoring the developments in Nepal since yesterday and are deeply saddened by the loss of many young lives,” the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased. We also wish a speedy recovery for those who were injured,” the ministry said.

Terming Nepal as India’s close friend and neighbour, the MEA hoped that all concerned would exercise restraint and address every issue through peaceful means and dialogue.
India has also taken note that authorities have imposed curfew in Kathmandu and several other cities of Nepal. “Indian nationals in Nepal are advised to exercise caution and adhere to the steps and guidelines issued by the Nepali authorities,” it said.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Balrampur, Bahraich, Maharajganj, Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit that share their borders with Nepal.
