The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu for three days. The weather agency advised the fishermen off Tamil Nadu coast against venturing into the Bay of Bengal.
In a press bulletin on Sunday, the weather agency said, "Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Tamil Nadu during September 7-10." The weather agency has also predicted heavy rains over Kerala and Mahe on September 9 and 10. Heavy rainfall has also been forecast over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on September 7 and between September 11 and 13, Interior Karnataka on September 10 and Rayalaseema on September 12.

The weather agency has also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in the state between September 11 and 13. On Sunday, IMD predicted heavy rains at a few places over Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Nilgiris, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Viluppuram, Karur, Namakkal and Tiruchirapalli.
IMD warned fishermen are advised not to venture into the Bay of Bengal from September 7 to 12 along and off Tamil Nadu coasts, and many parts of southwest Bay of Bengal, and adjoining some parts of southeast and westcentral Bay of Bengal on September 11; over few parts of Comorin area during September 7-10, and over Gulf of Mannar on September 11.
