A 21-year-old woman was abducted by two men who were known to her on the pretext of a job offer in the Bangiriposi area, Odisha. The woman was picked up by a van and driven about 80 km away from her home to an area near the Udala police station, according to the complaint filed by her.
Three others had joined them in the car, and they took her to a secluded place on the road connecting Udala and Balasore town and allegedly raped her, according to SDPO of Udala Hrushikesh Nayak.
After the woman began screaming for help, the men threw her out of the car in a panic. She was later found by the locals. She then returned to Bangriposi and spoke to her family, after which she filed a complaint. Bangriposi police connected to Udala in the evening and took the victim with them to file a complaint.
A case was registered against five people, and one person has been detained. The incident is being investigated. One official said that “The truth will come to light after a thorough investigation.”
