Pakistani terrorists planning a major attack in Bihar? State on high alert after intelligence inputs

The police headquarters has shared the details of the terrorists, including their photos, with all district police chiefs

Bihar Police have issued a high alert in the state after intelligence inputs claimed that three Pakistani terrorists have sneaked into the state through the Nepal border ahead of the assembly elections.

The police headquarters has shared the details of the terrorists, including their sketches and passport details, with all district police chiefs.

The three men, who reportedly belong to the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed group, have been identified as Hasnain Ali from Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain from Umerkot and Mohammad Usman from Bahawalpur.

There has been no official confirmation on the terrorists’ arrival in the state, though intelligence inputs claimed that they may be planning to carry out a major attack in the poll-bound state.

Security has been tightened in Purnea, Katihar, Araria, and Kishanganj districts which share borders with Nepal and Bangladesh.

“An intensive search operation has been launched, and all precautionary measures are in place ahead of the state elections,” DIG Purnea, Pramod Kumar Mandal, told reporters.

According to reports, the three men reached Kathmandu in the second week of August and then entered Bihar through Araria district last week.

The security alert comes at a time when the state is all set for the assembly elections due later this year.

The opposition led by the Congress party has already sounded the poll bugle with their ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’, accusing the BJP and the Election Commission of ‘vote theft’.

The 16-day yatra, which began on August 17, will cover around 1,300 kilometres through 20 districts.
