United States President Donald Trump on Monday reiterated his claim of stopping the conflict between India and Pakistan and said it would have turned into a "big war" if he had not intervened. Trump said that, like with India and Pakistan, he used the trade card to stop wars between various other nations as well.

Addressing presspersons, US President Trump said he stopped many wars. "I have stopped all of these wars. A big one would have been India and Pakistan," he said.

"The war with India and Pakistan was the next level that was going to be a nuclear war," the US president claimed. Trump said the war was raging and seven jets had been shot down by the time he intervened.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after terrorists with alleged Pakistani links killed 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam in April. India announced a series of diplomatic actions against Pakistan in the aftermath of the attacks.

On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor and destroyed terror launchpads at nine places along the Line of Control. In retaliation, Pakistan launched airstrikes targeting India's military assets. After days of heightened military action, both nations agreed to stop firing on May 10. While India maintains that the ceasefire talks were bilateral, US President Trump continues to claim he intervened to stop the war.

Trump claimed, "I said, 'You want to trade? We are not doing any trade or anything with you if you keep fighting, you've got 24 hours to settle it'. They said, 'Well, there's no more war going on'. I used that on numerous occasions."

Earlier this month, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh said India shot down five Pakistani fighter jets and a large aircraft during Operation Sindoor. The Air Force chief said there was very clear political will behind the military operation.
