Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal over the poor law and order situation in the state on Friday. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader said illegal migrants will run away when the Bharatiya Janata Party is voted to power in the state.
Addressing a rally in West Bengal on Friday, Modi charged, "Vote for us and the infiltrators will run away. We will not allow those infiltrators who are taking away the jobs of our youth and torturing women to stay in India. Some parties like the Trinamool Congress and the Congress have succumbed to the politics of appeasement. They are encouraging infiltration only for the greed of power."
Modi defended the newly introduced Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025 and said the Opposition INDIA bloc is opposing the law "because they are scared of facing punishment for their own sins."
Modi accused the Opposition of shielding the corrupt. "We decided to bring in a law that provides for dismissing a corrupt chief minister, or even the prime minister, if he or she spends 30 days in jail. But when we brought in a stringent law, the TMC, the Congress started protesting," he said.

The new amendment aims to dismiss prime ministers, chief ministers, and ministers from holding office if they remain in jail for 30 days or more. Targeting Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal after he was arrested in the Delhi liquor policy scam, Modi said, "It is a shame that even a chief minister, after going to jail, has been running government from there." He added, "Two TMC ministers, even after going to jail on corruption charges, were not willing to give up their posts."
Modi said those arrested on corruption charges cannot be part of the government. "Modi will not allow this", the prime minister said.
"Look at the situation, nowadays some people have stooped so low that they are trying to run the government from jail," Modi added.
