For a moment, the crowd gathered to attend the second state conference of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) went frenzy when Kollywood actor and politician 'Thalapathy' Vijay made a surprise announcement. Vijay said he is going to announce the names of the party's candidates for 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.

Addressing his party's state conference in Madurai, Vijay said, "I'm going to announce the candidates for the upcoming assembly polls." The new entrant in Tamil Nadu politics announced, " Madurai (East) candidate Vijay...", and he continued, "Madurai (West) Vijay, Madurai (Central) Vijay..."

"Wondering it's the same candidate in all constituencies? Yes, your Vijay is the symbol...one from your home will be fielded as the candidate", Vijay said. Vijay is the only popular face of TVK, and the party needs to cash in on it to gain substantial votes in the upcoming assembly polls.

During his address, Vijay lashed out against the ruling parties in the Centre and state. Vijay charged the Bharatiya Janata Party is acting against the interests of Tamil Nadu. Vijay identified the BJP as his party's ideological rival.

Vijay slammed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government for the poor law and order situation in Tamil Nadu. He accused the DMK of being in secret alliance with the BJP to protect its leaders from probe by Central agencies. The Kollywood superstar took a jibe at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and called him "Stalin uncle." Vijay charged that providing ₹1,000 for women in the state was not enough and said there was a lack of security for women in the state.
