The second conference of Actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) will be held at Madurai on Thursday. The mammoth event is being held at Parapathi, located on the Thoothukudi National Highway, on a plot of 506 acres.
The convention is expected to begin at 3:30 pm. The venue has been decorated with images of former Chief Minister MGR and party leader Vijay. Lakhs of people are expected to throng the venue from different parts of Tamil Nadu to participate in this convention. Though the authorities have arranged seating for a staggering 1.5 lakh people, more are expected to come. Over 75,000 have already arrived at the venue on Wednesday.
The TVK officials claim that over 5000 media persons are in attendance, including YouTube channels and national media personnel. Facilities, including drinking water and toilets, have also been provided for the volunteers coming to the conference. More than 50 huge LED screens are being installed throughout the conference venue.
The conference
The conference is said to begin with cultural performances and not speech. Folk artists from Thanjavur and Madurai are set to perform Karakattam, Oilattam and Silambattam will launch the conference, followed by a special flag-hoisting ceremony.
Vijay, who arrived in Madurai by car from Chennai on Wednesday evening, stayed at a hotel near the conference venue. Earlier, his parents, Shobha and Chandrashekhar, who arrived in Madurai on Wednesday morning, visited the conference venue.
Vijay is expected to give a 45-minute speech. The programme was revised last minute so that the conference will end at 7:00 pm. It is also said that this arrangement is so that the volunteers can go home quickly.
New song release
Though the party already has a flag song and a policy song, another song is currently being released at the state conference. It is said that a song, “Vagai soodum varalaru thirumbugirathu,” will be released at the event. Thaman had composed the music for the previously released lag song. It is expected that he will have composed the music for the song that is being released now as well.
