Three killed as old dilapidated Delhi building collapsed in Daryaganj; rescue operations underway

Three people died as a Delhi building collapsed in Daryaganj. Emergency services are now conducting a search and rescue to free individuals trapped under the debris of the structure

A three-storey building collapsed in Delhi's Daryaganj on Wednesday afternoon. Three people died in the collapse of the building near Sadbhavana Park along the old City Wall in Old Delhi. Meanwhile, rescue operations are underway.

The deceased have been identified as Zubair, Gulsagar, and Tafiq. The three men had died on the spot, and their bodies were moved to LNJP Hospital.

The building was an old and dilapidated house. This incident happened at 12.14 pm. Four fire engines, along with the police, arrived on scene after information was received.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan said, "Civic authorities, including DDMA, have been informed, and rescue efforts are underway. Legal action will be taken after verification of facts.”

Many people were trapped under the debris of the building. Three people were rescued and sent to the LNJP hospital. The neighbouring residents believe that more people are trapped under the building.

Efforts are underway to ensure the area is secure and further casualties are prevented. The cause of the collapse is still being investigated.
