‘He is an RSS man’: DMK reacts to C.P. Radhakrishnan’s nomination for Vice President

DMK has dismissed rumors of supporting BJP's C.P. Radhakrishnan for the Vice President post

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Monday dismissed rumours that the party is likely to support C.P. Radhakrishnan in the Vice President election.

Radhakrishnan, a senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu and current Governor of Maharashtra, was chosen as the ruling National Democratic Alliance’s candidate for the September 9 poll.

According to reports, the BJP’s decision is seen as a strategic move to expand its vote base in the southern state ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

Senior DMK leader TKS Elangovan, however, said Radhakrishnan’s nomination is “not going to do anything good” to Tamil Nadu.

"He is an RSS man. He is a BJP candidate. You should view this politically, not as per language...I don't know why the poor man (Radhakrishnan) has accepted it,” he said.

Alleging that the BJP regime at the Centre had always insulted Tamil Nadu, Elangovan said the party has now nominated a Tamilian to make a claim that it has done good for the Tamils.

The former Rajya Sabha MP asserted that the DMK would abide by the decision of the INDIA bloc, in which the party is a major partner.

Raking up the unceremonious exit of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Elangovan expressed hope that Radhakrishnan would not face a similar situation.

“They are searching for the former Vice President, who had resigned from his post earlier; they don't know where he is now.  That situation should not come to C.P. Radhakrishnan,” he said.
