The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu for two days, and moderate rains in various parts of the state till August 19.
In a press bulletin issued on Saturday, IMD said, "Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Tamil Nadu on August 16 and 17." IMD has predicted "light to moderate rainfall at most places accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning likely over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and Telangana during the next five days."
The weather agency has warned fishermen against venturing into the Bay of Bengal along the entire Tamil Nadu coast between August 18 and 20. Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into waters along and off south Tamil Nadu coast on August 16 and 17.

Coimbatore and neighbouring Nilgiris districts received heavy rainfall on Saturday. Over 10cm rainfall was recorded at weather stations in both districts. The regional centre of IMD has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Nilgiris and Ghat areas of Coimbatore districts.
"Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over North Tamilnadu and at isolated places over South Tamilnadu, over Puducherry and Karaikal area with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Nilgiris and Ghat areas of Coimbatore districts," it said.
