The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu for two days and has warned fishermen against venturing into waters off South Tamil Nadu coast.
As per IMD's weather bulletin on Tuesday, isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for two days.

"Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into Bay of Bengal from August 12-17 in the following areas: Along and off Sri Lanka coast, over most parts of south Bay of Bengal, over Gulf of Mannar and along and off south Tamil Nadu coast during August 12-17, over most parts of central Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea during August 12-16; along and off Andhra Pradesh coast, Odisha coasts during August 13-17, except only north Andhra Pradesh coasts on August 16; and over few parts of north Bay of Bengal during August 13-16."
The weather agency also advised the state to ensure proper drainage in low-lying areas. As per the agency's bulletin, it has forecast scattered rainfall in Tamil and Puducherry on Wednesday, and isolated rainfall between August 12 and 18.
