Upping the ante against the Election Commission over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll, the Congress party is reportedly planning to "expose" discrepancies in 48 Lok Sabha seats, where the party lost to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party by a thin margin.
According to reports, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge chaired a meeting of senior party leaders over alleged 'vote chori' in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday. In the meeting, Lok Sabha Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi allegedly charged that the BJP followed the same modus operandi as Bengaluru Central, in 48 Lok Sabha constituencies where the party lost to the ruling party by a thin margin.
The Congress leader has reportedly decided to release the findings in seven-eight phases. The development comes amidst raging row between Gandhi and the Election Commission over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll.

The Congress leader has accused the Election Commission of coercing with the BJP and fudging the electoral roll. During a recent press conference to 'expose' the irregularities, Gandhi, citing Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha seat as an example, charged that there were names of several voters with invalid addresses and levelled charges of double voting.
The Commission called the charges false and misleading, and challenged the Congress leader to sign an oath, so that the poll body could initiate legal action. The Commission also denied charges that political parties were not being provided with digital copies of the electoral roll. The Commission said Gandhi should apologise for misleading the nation.
